My fun neighbors

susandennisAnn and Ron live down the hall. They are retired and fun. He is a kind of pain in the ass fun and she is very much fun. When he retired, Ron bought himself a laptop and got a Clearwire account. He does pretty well considering he knows nothing about any of it, and does not have anyone there to show him anything.
Periodically they ask for my help. In the nicest possible way. Their questions are always very pointed. Not, how do I do pictures but more like, I have on picture I took that I want to print.
More often, even, Ron will ask if I can look at his issue to determine if he should take it to someone to get something fixed. Mostly their issues are easy and easily fixed. And they are so very gracious and grateful.
Yesterday Ann called me to ask how to make a paragraph. I went down. Ron was gone (turns out, he'd gone to get ink for the printer) and Ann was trying to compose an email to the city council. And she can't type.
She had one paragraph done IN ALL CAPS. I showed her how to make a paragraph and told her that an email in ALL CAPS was rude and we don't do that. I ended up typing up the note for her which was fine and she was grateful but after we sent it, I realized her email address had Ron's name on it! aurgh. I hate that.
When I got home, I looked up how to change it and sent her an email telling her to give me a shout when they had 2 mins for me to fix the name issue. She called a minute ago and I went down there and walked Ron through how to do it.
While I was there Ann told Ron that I told her not to use ALL CAPS. He was shocked. 'Why??!! I love ALL CAPS! Who said it was rude? I never heard that!' Ann and I were laughing at him and he was laughing, too. I explained that it was like shouting and it shouted that the sender was rude.
As I left, Ann said in a very low voice 'thank you so much' and then added 'I'm talking in no caps'. It cracked me up.
Oh and they had a cupcake for me from my favorite cupcake place in it's own little togo cupcake holder.
They make me glad I know enough about computers to help them.
