My afternoon at work was frustrating.  Stuff just annoyed me.  But not content to be just annoyed, I stopped at the library afterward.  I was wrong about it not being too bad walking from the library to home.  It was fucking brutal.  I hopped onto a bus for a few blocks but it was not an air conditioned one.

Then I got inside my condo and it was a sauna.  It took me a bit to figure out the problem.  The building manager had been in here today to check the terrace.  Fine by me but leave the fucking door open next time!!!!  This place was sealed up tight!

The air conditioner is on now - thankthelord and I am recovering.

I've been contemplating a new Tivo... or rather, an additional, refurbished Tivo and today I just bought it.  $79 after rebate.  I have no clue how I'm going to integrate it with my TV, 1st Tivo, cable box and dvd/vcr player, but surely there's a way.  Behind all this there is a rats nest of wires that I need to sort out.  So one day here pretty soon - maybe even next week when I have to take those 2 days off - I'll drag it all out, figure it all out, label everything and get it put back together in order.  It can't be when I'm hot tho.

And, finally, today was Old People's Day.  Now, I got nothing against old people.  But there have to be some ground rules.   If you are younger than I am, don't look old.  I know I'm old outside but inside, I'm like [livejournal.com profile] estis... you plan on serving me that drink without checking my ID?????

Overheard today at work.  "He's just too old.  He hasn't had a new thought in like 20 years.  I'd guess he's nearly 50."  I have no idea who they were talking about but the conversation fit right into my day.

I'll bet Ken Jennings loses tonight.  It's just been that kind of day.  But, if you know he loses before 8 p.m. PDT, please don't tell me.

A few things -

First *hug and smile* hopefully you no longer need them but i'm catching up and it sounded like you did last night.

Secondly, a friend of mine says "You're only as old as you smell." Not quite sure what it means for him but it never fails to make me smile.

Next, my grandparents (the 3 living ones) are in their mid-80s. One of them is still working 4 days a week at her daughters elder law firm as an intake person (the first person to talk to the new clients -it helps them because they realize she's probably older than a lot of them when they come in to start working on setting up wills/estates etc), the other 2 are retired but play golf a couple days a week and are fairly active. I hope that I'm as youthful and active as they are (and you are) when I hit my 50s not to mention 80s.

It's a cliche but "You're only as old as you feel." You know there's a reason it's a cliche - because there's some truth in it so it lasts as a sentiment and sticks around.

Finally - enough of that old stuff - I have a 2nd Tivo as of yesterday, but it's on a 2nd TV (in my bedroom) so the roommates (and I) have Tivoy-goodness in the living room and I have my very own, no need to share, Tivoy-goodness in my bedroom. Perhaps you just need to hook another cable wire to it and when you want to play something from it you just swap the tv connection wires from one TV to another?

One more thing - a question actually - now that I have this brand spankin new Tivo all to myself - what do you recommend for TV Shows to check out?

You are so *not* old....sheesh some people are crazy.

I started to comment last night at 10:41 EDT that Ken didn't lose, but it occured to me that you might not appreciate knowing that either. I wouldn't want to ruin your anticipation so I deleted the entry before I hit post... ;-)

I'm glad I made the right decision...I put myself in your place and realized that I wouldn't have appreciated knowing what happened before having seen it myself, so it made perfect sense to just keep quiet! ;-)
