Yesterday I ordered a new (refurbished) Tivo for the special price of $79.  Today they dropped the price for the very same model to $49!  I called to try and get my $30 back but couldn't.  The very nice lady suggested that I refuse delivery.  But, alas, it has already been shipped using UPS.  (Of course, my first thought was to tell them to send the first one by Fed Ex since they can't ever deliver to me.... ha!).

She gave me the tracking number of the $79 one and I gave it to the building manager and asked him to please refuse delivery.  I told him about his leaving my door closed yesterday and how the cats nearly died (his fiance is a vet) and this was a good way for him to assuage his guilt.  He's such a good guy.

If he misses the refusal, I can send it back or just have a back up to the backup.  $49 is just too cheap not to do it. 

I'm done ordering Tivos now.  Hopefully for a few years.  Considering I got my first one 5 years ago and it's still chugging along, I'm not unhappy.


Edit: I read on the Tivo Forums that one guy called today and got a $30 credit - no reorder! So I called back and explained my situation and that 'my friend, Ken, from Kansas' got $30 credit. I was on hold for a long time BUT the bottom line is 1 Tivo only on it's way and $30 will be credited to my credit card. Yahoo! Now, I gotta go tell the building manager to not refuse delivery after all!


 


Edited later... When I originally was told that I could not get the $30 back, I ordered a second Tivo - the $49 one. That's how I got two on order. This whole thing is confusing enough without my being obscure in the telling of it!

Now do you know how long it took me to figure out that you ordered a second (cheaper) TiVo and canceled the first one? Well of course you don't know! Let's just say a while. I guess since I now apparently need help out to my car at the grocery store I am incapable of adding missing parts or reading between the lines. In the future it would be helpful to me if you drew pictures to explain things...perhaps in crayon since I am losing it. 8-)
