Pooped

I'd like to apologize to all my Boston friends. Here you come all the way to my town to play a team that clearly me and a group from the nursing home could beat and we not only make you play past 1:30 a.m. your time on a school night, we take you for a grand slam walk off home run. I'd like to apologize but then I would be the example of disengenuity in the dictionary. So all I can say is neener neener neener. Oh, and thank you. Any chance you'll let us do it again this afternoon???

After an evening of heavy technical thinking plus digging around in dirty components and twisting this way and that to get stuff screwed in then staying up to watch the baseball game (see paragraph 1 above), I am pooped. And starving. I never got dinner last night so this breakfast sandwich I'm scarfing down is better than good.

I'm watching the UPS website. I want to make sure that the UPS guy gets my message that I refuse today's package (the Tivo order that did not get canceled).

I'm also watching for my next gadget to arrive. I finally broke down and bought a Harmony Remote. I got a refurbished 659 at Overstock.com. It should be here Wednesday. It's one that is programmed via the computer - finally! There are several on the market but they are all horrendously expensive and all but Harmony have the most ridiculous form factor. I told myself if the 659 got below $100, I'd try one. Overstock has it at $102 so I cheated. But, if it doesn't do two Tivos it's going back.

Mom is not feeling well. I wish I could make it better. It wouldn't sound serious except she's got a bad heart and bad lungs and is on so much medication that it's a miracle she ever feels good and she's 81. She's taking it easy today and says she'll call the doctor if she doesn't feel better.

Ok breakfast is over time for me to get to work!

Yes, we hate west coast late night games. It's such an insult to have to stay up past our bedtime and then get trounced in a game we had won.

When Foulke blew the save in the ninth, I did move up to the better seats (e.g. went to bed and listened to the rest of the game on the radio). [livejournal.com profile] rsc waited another inning to do the same.

Well, I don't look at it at the Mariners winning the game; the Sox lost it. No excuse for that.

If I were Bronson Arroyo I would really want to throw something at somebody. A package of Life Savers at Keith Foulke, maybe.

Well, you've got our currently-least-reliable pitcher to work on -- one that you traded to us back in '96 or so in what was probably one of the most derided trades in the history of the game. Seattle may be about to get its revenge.

Heathcliff Slocumb, already known at that time to those paying attention to be a mound turkey of the highest order. As I recall, the Mariner bullpen at that time was in such a sorry state that they were acquiring any body with the label "relief pitcher" attached to it, whether its owner could actually pitch or not.

Don't get me wrong; the Sox got a lot of good value out of Lowe, and may yet again (if he hurries).

with our luck, today will be the best game of his career

That, however, would take some doing, since he pitched a no-hitter a couple of years ago.

The real prize in that trade was Jason Varitek.

Well, if we're going to rag on players' names, what about Seattle's shiny new center fielder, Hiram Bocachica?

The only thing I'm going to say about today's game is: Whew!
