A/C has given up the ghost

My Air Conditioner is blowing air but it is no longer blowing chilled air.  And we are breaking heat records here today and tomorrow and Sunday!  This is so not good.  I'm so tempted to go to Home Depot and spend $500 for a new one.  But that's just silly.  I think this one is just tired.  I'm going to let it rest and try again.  I doubt seriously if there is anyone in town who could fix it - Seattle is not the hot bed of home air conditioning fix it people that you might suspect.  And even if there was someone, it is likely they are a little busy today.  Fuck.

Oh well.  Plenty of people have no air conditioning at all.  I have a fan.  I'm going to move it to just in front of my chair.

What a wonderful thought but... alas... I have no window! Seriously. This is a loft condo and I only have a sliding door to the outside. But, thank you.

I actually just called their 800 number and the guy said that my unit was probably dead of old age BUT he said for sure to let it rest about 20 minutes and then try it at low themostat to see if the compressor will kick in. If it does, there is hope. He said it could have just overheated and needs to rest.

It's too hot to kill myself so I think I'll just buck up and think of Iceland.

Actually, Iceland has not been at it's coolest lately - in fact, it's usually been sit-in-front-of-the-computer-in-my-underwear kind of hot (but still, probably nothing compared to the heat in Seattle), and while at work, I've definitely been wishing I was home so I could strip down to my underwear. It's supposed to rain the whole weekend, so mayby my clothes will get some wear. ;-)

Iceland ICEland - I can't handle reality... Any place named Iceland can't be hot. That's just not fair! I'm crushed. (But, I'm pretending it's crushed ICE!)

Yahoo! says it's 94 there now. Now that's summer! This complaining at 75 degrees, that's different.

It's only 97 here, I better get back out to mowing the yard and tending the garden. Can't let a nice warm day go by without being productive.

I have learned in my many years of life, don't f---- with the A/C. If it doesn't work, buy a new one.

Life is too short to be miserable. So what are you waiting for? Your car has A/C, doesn't it?

Being from Northern Cal I never had a car with a/c until we moved to Texas. I will never have a car without it again.

Interesting about your A/C experience. The guy at the 800 number said he didn't have parts and fixing it wasn't an option so at least I won't waste any energy there.

My car is air conditioned but I don't want to go anywhere!!

I just hate the idea of spending $500 for a new one and then having to deal with getting rid of this one and getting the new one from the store to here... It's just too hot to even think about.

The fan on me and not turning any lights on is working so far.

The $500 one at our Home Depot is now on sale for 349...end of season ya know. You might want to check out there to see if there is a sale also.

No shit?! I am going first thing in the morning. Thanks!!! If they have any left and if they are on sale, I may have to just buy a backup unit. I'll go $349 just for the peace of mind - and for next year!
