Home Depot Adventure
Jul. 24th, 2004 09:30 amI got to Home Depot about 8:30. I walked in and there was a young woman just in front of me talking to a Home Depot guy about air conditioners...
Guy: "I'm so sorry, we don't have any more."
Woman: "But the customer service lady said you just got some in last night."
Guy: "She did? GREAT! Let's go find them!"
So I tagged along and there was a guy behind me doing the same thing. We found them 12 of them at Register 13. No price tag and no one seemed to care about that but me. The guy grabbed one. The Home Depot guy went off to get a cart for the woman. I followed the guy to the cash register to find out how much. $499.
I pondered. I walked around the store to get some other little things I needed and then went back up to the front. There were now 4 left. It had been maybe 15 minutes. I must have heard "No, I'm so sorry, we are all out of fans except ceiling fans..." about a dozen times.
The original Home Depot guy was still doing air conditioners. He now had them onto carts for easy rolling out. We chatted and I told him I had hoped they were on sale. He said he could have sold 50 at double this price in the past two days. I paid for my little stuff and as I was leaving turned around to look and there were 3 left. It was 9 a.m.
geordie found this cool link to Everything Home.Com which looks like it might be worth keeping an eye on for even better deals than they have now as the summer comes to an end.

Date: 2004-07-24 05:30 pm (UTC)I actually have thought about what the rest of today was like at HD and how long those other air conditioners lasted.

Date: 2004-07-25 08:00 am (UTC)Looks like we have switched with your weather. Other than not using the pool as much I am not complaining!
May you cool down soon. And what you did with your a/c - simply shutting it off and letting it rest is my favorite method of electronic repair at work. 98 percent of the time it works. And I look like a genius. If they only knew.
