Mom's in the hospital
Jul. 29th, 2004 04:40 pmShe finally went to the doctor who had her taken to the hospital. He ordered an MRI thinking it was a blood clot. Found no clot but did find pneumonia. He's checking her in. She's probably in her room as I type this.
Polly is this wonderful woman who is about my age and has a little business taking care of people who live where Mom does. Polly does whatever is needed. She'll go to the store, take people to the store, run errands, run people... whatever needs to be done. She is heaven on two feet. And she's one of the nicest, down to earth people you will ever want to meet.
I found her when she was first getting started. I asked the resident coordinator if there wasn't some kind of concierge service in town that I could hook up with to help Mom out with errands and stuff. She gave me Polly's card and said 'Polly's Mom lived here before she died and Polly thinks she can kind of make a business out of helping people.'
So I connected up with Polly and the rest is history. Mom has done a fine job of 'marketing' Polly there and her business has really grown. She 'does' for lots of Mom's friends but we have been very careful to make sure that Mom is on the Polly A-List.
She is. Polly met Mom at the emergency room this afternoon and has stayed with her and is the one who called me. Thank goodness for Polly.
So we wait. She'll either get better or not. At least now she's not at home and feeling poorly and a little scared and wondering what to do. My brother is going up this weekend. She's in good hands.
