Thank you, Charlie!
Aug. 14th, 2004 08:19 amI'm lying in bed with the newspaper and the coffee and NPR tells me that the hurricane is in Charleston, SC. Excuse me?? Just then the computer told me I had mail and I got up to see what that was and to check on the hurricane situation. The mail was from bro telling me he'd just gotten off the phone with Trey and Mom and they are safe and dry and the hurricane is actually north of them.
He had been listening to NPR, too.
They did have a hurricane evacuation of Mom's place a couple of years ago. Mom got in her car early and got the hell out of there. Between the 75+ cottages and 200+ apartments of the independent living sections plus the assisted living wings and the dependent care wings and the staff - may I just say that I am very grateful not to have to be involved with moving all those people?? Geesh and ugh.
But today all is fine there. Others weren't so lucky. In the never ending earthquake versus hurricane argument, I'm sticking with earthquake, thanks. Hurricane's are just too much worry and work.
