This entry is about shoes but first I have to remember this guy I used to work for. I loved this guy. I worked for him on three different products in three different time zones. He was great and very smart and I learned a lot. But, he loved a good malapropism. Well, maybe I should say, he used a lot of them and those of us around him loved that he did. One of my personal favorites was when he would dismiss a group with 'they are just like freakin' lemons into the sea...'

But, I digress. My lemming point was that I find more and more that a mere mention of a product in someone's blog sends me right to the 'buy now' button on a website. I can't even stop and think. I don't know these bloggers from Adams House Cat. Why in the world do I trust their judgment? Follow their lead? Buy what they buy?

I think I'm going to blame it on my mother. During those tender years of 13, 14, and 15... I still harbored the delusion that I could be like Judy Perry and the other popular girls at school. All I need was the right clothes. I needed Weegen loafers. I needed Villager blouses. No knockoffs that any fool could spot four blocks of lockers away... oh, no. I needed the real thing. Or my life was going to suck and my future was in peril.

My mom just laughed. In my face. I think she actually believed that those trashy loafers were as good as Weegens. The bitch.

So today when I read in
Super Eggplant (the blog of someone who's name is Mariko and who lives somewhere in California and, seriously, that is ALL I know about her) about Crocs... I have to have some. Not only that, I decided that I have to have the Beach Model in red or orange or emerald. Medium. And everyone is out. Zappos doesn't even carry them which I find shocking. And every store I went to showed all my color/size requirements as sold out. Finally I found a website that had red ones. I ordered up with the same speed and greediness as if I was elbowing a fellow shopper out of the way at the mall.

On the up side, I did only order one pair... I wanted one in every color but I clicked 'check out' as fast as I could while the damage was still minmal...

So if I mention my Husqvarna 359 chainsaw you feel a need to buy one? Or how about the Husqvarna 323R brush cutter?

Nice to be of service.

So... how many pairs of shoes do you have? Do you recycle or do you hoard against the day when you have more feet?

That's hardly any... I thought from your description and previous orders that you were some sort of Imelda Marcos with a spare apartment somewhere nearby where you kept the shoes sorted by material, color, style and height. Now I find I have more shoes than you!

Hmm... most of which I hardly wore will probably never wear again, and there's a Goodwill dumpster only four blocks away.

Croc's were created by two Coloradoans! I can't believe how they are sweeping the nation. I swear, they're everywhere. Believe or not, I got mine at a health food store: Red, Size Medium.

You will love them!!

You ARE spreading the disease!

But so far I've resisted. Even though my daughter is STILL asking for a Shark Cordless Sweeper, and I really really want a Treo.

I had never heard of Crocs, but the picture in your post was SO cute I just HAD to go searching. Now I have a HUGE foot. I explored Zappos after one of your earlier posts, and found lots of things in my size (not much in my price range - but one day I'll treat myself.) But I figured that the Crocs, being fun-looking shoes, would only come in normal sizes.

WRONG! They have my size (XL - no kidding,) and they're not too spendy either. My checks for background work are starting to come in, and those Crocs are calling to me. I found an eBay seller who claims to have the Beach model in all sizes and colors. I like emerald too :)

We'll see if I manage to resist this new temptation.

I succumbed to the Shark Sweeper...and ummm oh yes..General Tso!

Maybe the "sleeping bra" one of these days. I resisted when I found out they are about 5 miles from here, but still charged shipping.

Thanks!

Checking it out right now. You've given me lots of good ideas...probably more than any other LJ friends! I appreciate your posts.
