Mom and stuff
Aug. 25th, 2004 01:21 pmI finally was able to get back on Mom's computer and get Ad-Aware installed and run - the first time it found 847 malicious objects. And a couple were in the system files so I had to reboot. Ran it again and got it down to 322. Ran it again and got it down to 0. Tonight I'll get the latest Spybot and run that and then do a virus scan.
I did discover that Norton's GoBack history is wiped out with a virus scan which is really not helpful. But, now I know.
My sister has taken her children in Mom's car and gone to Columbia. They will be back on Friday and then are leaving town on Saturday and the computer will be safe again.
Mom called again this morning. I'm hoping she's not going to get into the call every day mode... I don't have the capacity for dealing with that. Email, ok... but phone calls where I have to actually hear how ditzy she has become - not good. In emails, she thinks and then writes only what's most important. On the phone she rambles and tells me what she told me yesterday or the opposite of what she told me yesterday and she sounds old and feeble and I can't handle too much of that. I'm not naturally sympathetic and this is stretching what little I got....
But, you know, reviewing today's entries... I have some serious skill in bitching! Too bad there isn't a complaining Olympics! I think I could medal in the office division and probably in the family division and maybe even in the free style...

"847 malicious objects"
One can only imagine what your sister's home PC must be like!
Good thing your Mom has you to clean up after Sissie's mess.
