Today is much better. Lots of work getting done but at an organized and sane pace with time in between for stuff like an LJ entry!

Mom is having a good day. We had a nice visit and she sounded good. I reported in on all my talking to all the people there and explained that my mantra to them was 'happy and comfortable'. I told her that I was telling them that none of us expects her to play tennis again - this got a great laugh. She's still working towards recovery - trying to do more every day. I would have given up weeks ago but not her. Then her Physican's Assistant called a bit ago. According to her, Mom is giving every indication that she will recover enough to move back into her apartment. So... She may surprise us all.

My sister, however, will never surprise anyone. If I get one more note about how complicated her life is or how many responsibilities she has, I am going to have to take drastic life threatening action. The bitch is working my last nerve. It was soooo much better when she wasn't speaking to me.

Last night I watched my TIVO of the new Jane Pauley show. It was all about sisters. They somehow ran out of time before they got to the sisters from hell. They covered the 8 good ones instead. Not a balanced picture.

And speaking of Jane. I have really liked and admired her since she first hit the airwaves. I watched her religiously on the Today show for years. I liked her on Dateline and admired that she never kicked Stone Phillips in the crotch - at least on camera. So I was kind of excited about her new talk show. I thought this one would be good.

When I am wrong, I am wrong. Her first four shows sucked the big one. I said I'd give her through the end of the week but I don't think there's any hope. It's her. She just doesn't do extended chatty. She can swap barbs with Gene and Tom for a few minutes between stuff but she's not got the jewels for an hour of it. Sigh. And the first new show of the new season bites the dust.

Last night the Mariners were playing Toronto. Toronto walked the first four batters of the game - yep they walked in the first run. But, Seattle - ya gotta love 'em - managed to lose the game anyway.

The hurricane looks like it's going to miss Mom. But it really looks like it's going to hit my brother in the nose. I had an email from him early this morning but it was about his getting a software glitch fixed as a result of my tip. No storm news. And I haven't heard a thing since. He's in Jacksonville, FL. And if you look on any weather map, that's just below the little indication that says 8 a.m. Saturday. Yikes.

This weekend will involve a trip to Target and house cleaning but other than that, it will be the usual - just more of it. The library has the latest Carl Hiasaan waiting for me and I think I'm just going to stop there on the way home and pick it up. And maybe from there stop by the barbecue place to pick up something for dinner.

We're all bracing for the worse. Where does your mom live? I thought she was out there closer to you. I'm on the county line between Miami-Dade and Broward near US1 (Fed. Hwy).

Oh, okay. I think the hurricane will make landfall closer to Ft. Pierce, not JAX. We all might get lots of rain and wind though. I just noticed that it's now a cat. 2 hurricane. That's good news.

Go, Mom! :)

Speaking of Jane Pauly, I almost fell off my chair the other night watching a few moments of Dateline. I had no idea that she's been ill and hospitalized. May explain the blank personality, she could be under strong medication.
