The Mariners are fucking up another game. This time the White Sox started out pretty good but now they are playing like the Mariners. We're in the 8th so the White Sox will likely win anyway. Baseball this year is just a giant aisle cleanup.

So, while I'm watching, I made a calendar for Mom to show when she went into the hospital (July 27), when she came home (August 9) and when she went into the nursing unit (August 16). When her Mother lived in a nursing home she told me once she wanted a calendar. I made a giant perpetual calendar out of felt and Velcro. Once when I visited, the nurse told me that the last day of the month was a big deal because it was Chang The Calendar Days Day. Grandma loved it and, honestly, by the time she died it was really looking ratty.

But, Mom thought it was the silliest thing she ever heard of and made fun of it lots. This morning when we were talking about how long she had been where she said 'I need one of those silly calendars like you made Grandma that time!' Cracked me up. I made Mom's today in Excel. If she wants the felt/velcro version, she's going to have to beg...

And, then I posted some photos that my sister sent of her girls and Mom. This was a couple of weeks ago.

Whiteboard for Perpetual Calendar

We live with my grandmother, who is almost 88. I went and bought a big monthly whiteboard calendar, but then converted it into sort of a perpetual calendar with some artful markering (changed it to 7 days) and using the "date" boxes for Grammy to check off things like taking her medication (I got her the calendar when she mentioned forgetting 3 days in a row) and the fiber stuff she has to take (which I've seen her take three times in a day because she can't always remember if she's taken it or not.) She just checks off the boxes every day and on Monday morning erases them and starts over. I put her "regular" weekly appointments on the calendar - church, yard man day, Bible study, "Ladies Breakfast" on Fridays. It works really well.
So far I haven't had to add out of the ordinary things like doctor's appointments because she remembers breaks in her routine. The repetitive stuff is what's becoming a challenge.

Your mom looks great in the pic.
