Saturday mornings are just the best for getting stuff done. I got my accounts all noodled out and recorded and reconciled - including the Discover card mess. I'm caught up and backed up and under control.

Then I updated my book database and got the mailing out to the email list.

Jake has taken control of the sofa pillow. Betty is on the floor pretending she doesn't care.

The parking lot out my terrace is a beehive of activity. The revelers for the Washington State University football game started setting up their tailgate parties before 7 a.m. It is now 10 and the lot is nearly full. The school colors are red and white. And the lot is a sea of red and white people. All sober. No alcohol allowed in the parking lot. Seattle Police announced earlier this week that there will be no exceptions this year. Should make for interesting revelry.

Mom is ok. Actually, she's fine. I'm running out of steam. I call her every morning at 6:45 my time and we chat. Lately it's been the same chat over and over again. She needs a light in her room so she can read the paper. She knows who to ask but, for some reason, can't quite do it so every morning I hear about how she doesn't have any light to read by. She's confused about her oxygen equipment. It's been explained to her a dozen times and she had it down for a couple of days but she's lost it again. She's been totally absorbed by the US Open tennis on TV. When that ends it's going to get sticky, I think, keeping her amused. But, she is getting better.

I need to water my poor house-plants which are mainly pothos that I have spawned from a plant I've had for years. They are nice and green and there is pretty much no way you can kill them.

Then I need to take the garbage down to the dumpster. Then I'm done with my chores. Whew.

Would your mom watch old tennis matches that someone recorded fro her, or perhaps one's the are available for sale? Or does she just like the current as they happen matches?

I just thought they might entertain her a bit.

Last night on the History Channel was a show on Rocket Rod Laver. A sickly boy makes good. The Aussies ruled the roost of tennis in those days.

...and all I did today was watch football! A parking lot full of sober pre-game fans?! 'Tis a sad affair (and not nearly as entertaining).
