Ameritrade and 1st Tech Credit Union made up. They have kissed and vowed to be friends forever. The transfer of funds is complete and successful.
For those of you taking notes, as it turns out the fault was mine. The credit union gives you one account number. If you are talking checking, you add a 90 to the end of it. If you are talking savings, you add a 00 to the end of it. And you have other suffixes for other accounts but all of it hangs on your account number.
So... Ameritrade asked for my account number and then, separately, asked if it was savings or checking. I gave it the account number (no suffix) and said savings.
They ran their little test where they put two tiny deposits into you account and they put them in my checking account. It really didn't matter to me so I didn't pay attention. Turns out that for deposits, they aren't that picky where they put your money. But, when it's cash into their till, different story.
Had I put the exact account number with the 00 at the end the first time it would have been no sweat.
Now we know, don't we?! And now I can swap $$ back and forth as my fortunes dictate. Today, I made a whopping $-18.89!
