Mom weary

I'm just running out of patience. I'm tired of listening to her. We cover the same ground every morning and it never changes.

I can't figure out what to do about her investments. She doesn't have much and it doesn't matter - she lives off of a trust that is managed beautfully by the trust officer - but she wants someone she can call and bug about the non-trust money she has invested in miscellaneous stuff. I've poked around trying to find someone with zero luck.

She wanted me to order those stupid TV earphones (which she won't like) and now she says that someone there stole the package. Fortunately, I was able, fairly easily, to ascertain exactly what day and time it was delivered and who signed for it. I'm guessing someone just put it in her apartment. I sent a note off to the social worker and asked her to get someone on it.

She is still not back in her apartment. I don't know why and she doesn't either and she says they won't tell her. And, honestly, with every passing day, I think that going back is going to be a huge mistake. She's not going to be able to handle it. I don't want to even think about what that means.

I'm just tired of it all.

So I need to remember...

  • She's not mean or hateful to me. She's just confused and lacking a fair number of even the marbles she had 6 months ago which was not a full set.

  • I am not there. And am too far away to get there easily.

  • She won't last forever.

  • It won't kill me to be kind (are we sure about this last one???)

Ok, thanks. I think I'm done. I just needed to bitch. We now resume our regular programming.

And, speaking of which, I'm really liking the new show Hawaii. It's gotten horrible reviews and my TV viewing friends who's opinion I generally admire all hate it. But, I've now seen 3 episodes, and I like it.

Susan, you're being a hero just being there for her on a daily basis. Not that you shouldn't, but it's always a choice, and loving is good for your heart.

Loving and spitting are not mutually exclusive. Just think of cats, and keep telling the story however you want. :-)

Useless Information : )

They filmed a lot of "Hawaii" in Palm Springs.

Just think about what she went through when you were a little child...

Oh, I'm running out of patience, Susie talks on and on about stuff we already settled and she never listens to me.

How will we afford college for her and bro and sis?

She wanted that stupid doll which I knew she wouldn't like anyway. And then I got it for her and she immediately lost it but said her friend took it.

She wants her own room but I know that will be a mistake - she won't clean it so it'll be a big mess. And anyway she'll leave all her stuff in the living room and in the yard.

I'm going through similar mom-fun, and bad-me says my mom is enjoying sending me through hoops just a little too much.

Good-me then feels horribly guilty.

Bad-me eats a cookie.

I have a nasty suspicion it's natures way of making the eventual loss easier to stand, like teenagers and leaving home. Nature has to have some way to separate the kids from the nest. I know my grandmother has done plenty to make sure she won't entirely be missed, but then she never liked boys so I was never attached in the first place.
