Same old song
Oct. 3rd, 2004 10:15 amI'm afraid that for at least the next month, this journal is going to be pretty much a one-note song. The Move of Mom. I need it to keep me sane and keep me organized. It's not going to be a thrilling read - sorry.
Mom and I had the 'so we're going to store a little bit of stuff and move even less into your new room and get rid of everything else' talk. It was fine. She and I share the throw away gene. My sister and sister-in-law share the keep everything gene. My brother got the 'whatever' gene. Thankgod for Polly.
I told Bill and Trey to start dismantalling now if they wanted to - take whatever they want - particularly kitchen stuff and booze. I know they don't want much but there is some stuff and they should have it. Bill went through all of the paperwork lying around and compiled piles - financial stuff which he's sending to me - cards and letters and personal stuff which he's taking to Mom and trash which he's... One good thing about my brother is that if you tell him or ask him to do something, and he remembers, he is very good at doing it.
He also got the car papers in one place - the insurance certificate out of the dining room drawer, the registration out of Mom's purse and will get the plate sticker which apparently was paid for but lost before it made it to the car, replaced. And we are all breathing a sigh or relief, since this last little bit of organization pointed out that he'd been driving the car - across state lines - with expired plates, no registration and no proof of insurance. YIKES!
Bill really does think we can get everything taken care of and done in three weeks. He and Trey will come back and help Polly and Mom. This will be good. Whew. And, yes, 3,000/3/thankyoujesus! By the time I get there at the end of November things should be starting to settle in just fine - she says ever so hopefully.
Nice walk this morning ...
- Time now to get into the shower and start the laundry.
