Fun day...
Mar. 19th, 2011 04:53 pmI got up when the alarm when off instead of lying in listening to NPR or just futzing around. I got up and got some work done before leaving to meet
machupicchu at Pike Place Market for brunch. Then we went on to the movie. We saw Paul and it was fabulous. Oh so funny. I think I liked it better than his review liked it.
I want a Paul doll. I have no clue how to even find one. Google failed me. My Alf doll, I know, would love an alien buddy and Paul would be perfect. Plus their chatter would be hilarious.
Then I came home to find that one of my producers deleted a folder full of newly created files needed for some of the web pages in our project. I'm sure it was an accident and I've done such things myself in the past. And, happily, my best producer discovered the issue in time for me to take a snapshot of the folder contents before they were no longer accessible. So at least I had a good list of what to rebuild and I spent the rest of the afternoon rebuilding. It could have been so much worse. And I had uninterrupted time to do it in And I got it finished. Oh and, I had a Mariner game to listen to while I did the work and it was a really good game.
So it was all fine. I have chicken pot pie for dinner - with pearl onions, mushrooms and a port wine sauce. I can't wait to try it.

The people who make Farmville and other games are opening an office in Seattle, about 2 blocks from here. In the late 90's this neighborhood was taken over by dot coms. Then, of course, they all died or moved on and there has been a lot of funky left over office space pretty much since then but in the past couple of years, we've started getting gamers in here. And these folks are the latest. Fun.
And in other funky office space news, there's a post-it note ad hock art challenge going on in the high rise office buildings of downtown Bellevue which is across the lake from here. People are 'drawing' on office windows with post it notes and then the challenge is being taken up by others in surrounding buildings. I heard about it a couple of weeks ago but now it's getting press and someone has put up a great Flickr round up... That's just flat out cool.

Really, Paul is one of my favorite movies of all time. I will absolutely see it again when it comes out on DVD. There were, I'm sure, jokes I missed and the ones I didn't miss, I could stand to hear again.
