Gourmet food for thot
Oct. 21st, 2004 07:39 amI'm stealing this directly out of a friend's LJ. I'd give her credit but she put it into a locked entry so I'm a little hesitant to reveal my source. She got it from a newspaper so I'm ok with adding it here.
"Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one thing we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our attitude."
I've known for a long time that I'm in charge of my attitude. I don't think that I have given it as much value as probably I should. This might be a nice little project. Take my current crappy, mean spirited attitude and shape it into one that works better for me and everyone I come in contact with. Lofty goal but, hey, you gotta start somewhere.
