Potato Beignets

susandennisToday's brunch was a weird one. First of all the place is weird. Builtburger. It's a tiny (seating for 28) hole in the wall sandwiched between a barber shop and a hole in the wall barbeque place on a side street that is about a 70 degree incline on the edge of Pioneer Square. The only thing going on anywhere near there on Sunday morning are drug deals.
Inside is not inviting at all. It kind of reminds me of what a bail bondsman's waiting room must be like.
Their brunch menu included a burger benedict and I added potato beignets. Pretty damned delicious.
When it opened there was one guy there - someone's kid was sick so he was by himself. Then a woman showed up and told me again about the sick kid (that's honestly 2x more than I needed to hear the particulars of their staffing issues) - turns out apparently the mother of the sick kid is the only one who knows how to make coffee. So no coffee.
The guy did come out and ask me if I liked bread pudding and I allowed as how I did... And he brought me a serving that was truly a mound of sugar, bread and butter heaven with a touch of cinnamon.
I will give them another shot. Probably next Sunday which is Mother's Day and a nightmare for getting breakfast at regular places.
