I am so cured
Oct. 23rd, 2004 02:12 pmI've retail really is therapy, I am the very model of cured. I cut a swath through Wal-Mart. I really do love Wal-Mart. I am so glad that there isn't one near me. I think I've had my fix for a while though. I hope so. I can't afford much more.
Plus, it is so close to Fry's. There I snagged a DVD/CD player/writer. Pioneer. Regularly $325 but dropped to a box-opened $250. With a $50 rebate and the cute little sales guy took another $15 off when I whined about his not having a PCMCIA drive and 'really, is this one going to work since somone has messed with it?' And then he threw in a little wireless mouse for the mini. I love Fry's, too.
Then I got lost coming home. But, I made it and all is well.
The DVD player has about 10 dozen warnings about using USB 1.1 ports. The book says that I will only be happy with USB 2.0. (I actually considered getting a PCMCIA firewire card or a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card while I was at Fry's and decided I didn't need it.) Turns out I don't. Popped in one of my Netflix selections and it works like a charm.
And the wireless mouse isn't a cool looking as my tiny wired one that is transparent and glows, but it sure as heck works better! Sometimes cute just has to take a back seat.
I should clean up this house. But I could leave that until tomorrow. Really.
