Head, elbows, knees and toes...

susandennisOnly in my case it's only head, knee and ankle. I did a really excellent sidewalk surfing face plant tonight on the way to dinner and a movie. I scraped the skin off of one knee and did something not so nice to the other ankle and now have a basketball sized (well, ok, half an avocado sized swelling under the knee that now has no skin on it. OUCH.
I hobbled to Le Pichet and snuck in before their first reservations would take over the small joint. It was heaven. It's a little French cafe that is very nice. I ate and drank my way past my injuries.
Then on to meet Matthew and his friend, Danielle. I got there first to find out that the movie theater was sold out. It's a strange little theater that Matthew and I had wanted to try. But apparently tonight was not going to be the night.
I met up with them and we decided to go on up to the Good Movie Theater and catch the 7 pm showing there. We ended up doing a fair amount of walking so that was good. We killed an hour getting a drink next to the theater but by the time we got up my knee and ankle were killing me and it was really crowded and I had totally lost interest in fighting the crowds to see the movie so I bailed.
I walked down to the bus tunnel to catch a bus and I must have looked pretty pitiful because I moved over to the wall to stand and wait out of the way and a really sweet woman who was probably 25 or 30 got up and offered me her seat!
I finally made it home and that's when I discovered that my knee was really quite banged up. I'm grateful that I did not sit for more than 2 hours in a movie seat and then try to get home. The gigantic swollen part is the part that is really painful. But, really only to the touch. If it's DVT and I die in the night, at least know my last evening was actually pretty nice.
My Sunday morning brunch location has been selected. It will be right here at Casa De Me. I'm not going anywhere. It's too dangerous out there.
