Heading home
May. 21st, 2011 06:01 pmWe are on the train now - minutes away from leaving the station. We walked all over everywhere and enjoyed it thoroughly. We really had no agenda which was also fun. It was raining but NW rain so really only heavy drizzle, which for my money was great since it ensured cool. I think, however, my sweater is growing moss.
We really did have a great trip. Vancouver - especially where we were - the West End has such a great wonderful feel to it. Vibrant urban work areas are mixed in with vibrant urban residential areas in a wonderful way. It's pretty and clean with a great transit system (and I already mentioned the pretty bus drivers). I'd live there in a heart beat. It was a perfect place to visit.
I love having the Amtrak wifi. It was disconcerting to be without full access to stuff on my phone. My phone is set up to suck down data from a bunch of different apps all the time and I was afraid it I left the roaming on it would end up costing a fortune so I kept turning it on and then off which as probably not at all necessary. We did have it for finding stuff when we needed it. And there are a lot of Starbucks for which we were grateful.
I'm not sure I realized how dependent I have become on having a little computer in my pocket.
We have now pulled out of the station and are stopped again. They warned us that when we get to the boarder, homeland security would take their best shot at us. There was a fair amount o security getting onto the train. Interesting.
I'm caught up with most everything computer... think I'll knit a while.
