We had a major festuche at work - at least in my little piece of at work - that required a whole lotta bit twiddling on my part today. I now have all the bits twiddled and 20 mins before it's time to head home.

I just created some web pages for a special section of Microsoft.Com that included some links to document downloads. These particular downloads require that the downloader have a signed non-disclosure agreement on file. I did the pages and was checking them. There was something wrong but I couldn't pinpoint it. I think I stared at the fucker for at least 3 minutes before I found it:

Note: These documents require DNA.

The good news is that I did finally find it before it went 'live'. With my luck someone would have happened onto one of those pages and the headline would spread like wildfire "Evil Empire Requires Genetics Test"!

One of our local TV stations (the ABC one) is going to start the evening news at 4 p.m. on Monday. (This is not a channel I watch mainly because two of their 'talent' are so obnoxious that I can't listen and it's annoying to have to mute out the broadcast.) This will mean 2 and a half hours of local news. Trust me, folks, we do NOT have 2 and a half hours of the kind of news that TV covers. Currently, all the major stations cram about 20 solid minutes of news into their 1.5 hour slots. I'm afraid there aren't enough cliches in the world to fill a 2.5 hour local news slot. Plus, poor old Jane Pauley is going to get the boot from the ABC affiliate.

I had teryaki chicken for lunch and I think I had enough for lunch, dinner and maybe breakfast tomorrow.

I wasn't kidding with the subject line. I really don't have much to contribute today but it's important to me to check in. Consider me checked.

4PM news? I'm somewhat surprised. The local Fox station tried to do a 4:30-5PM show, and it bombed miserably. We'll see how KOMO's works out.

And poor old Jane Pauley's ratings have been pretty miserable, nationwide. They might do better if they aired a test pattern at that time.

Me too. She's a good journalist, but she just can't compete in the world of Montels and Springers.
