My music collection is kind of landfill like. It started years ago a song from here and a song from there. Then a bunch of amateur CD rips and then Amazon started selling mp3's and I bought a few. Then I had 2,000 songs. About 3/4ths were done by Various Artist and the songs were variations of Track_01.

Uploading it all to the Amazon Cloud cleaned up a ton of it. About 80% of Various Artists got real names and the songs got tagged with real title and albums.

Then today I got an invite to Google's music beta. I moved the unidentified 20% to a separate folder and told Google it could have the rest (And, by the way, Google, thanks for asking - more than I can say for iTunes and even Amazon was not as controllable).

Google already found one issue with some Billy Joel song titles that I need to fix. But I am so getting there. My goal is to get everything identified and then decide between Google and Amazon and get the cleaned batch completely in the cloud.

I think Google is winning.

One of the first things they ask you when installing the uploading app is if you want free music and if so, pick your favorite out of the following 10 genres. NONE of those genres were:

- Music of the 50's and 60's (I am way too old for normal Oldies - but they didn't even offer that anyway).
- A capella (excluding most barbershop)
- Popular folk (not the ethnic kind but the Peter Paul and Mary kind)
- Gospel (can include Baptist hymns)
- Broadway musicals

Pandora and I are still great friends.
