The cable card install did not go exactly as it should but the snag turned out not to be a show stopper. TiVo grabs the first day or two of listings when it gets updated... so you can start watching the extra channels right away and then it goes, behind your back, and gets the rest.
One part of the activation involved calling Comcast again... this time I got a tech guy who was on the ball. He immediately asked me if I was installing it, by any chance, into a TiVo. I gave him the numbers he needed and then we hit the snag. TiVo started doing the update and it was iffy whether or not the card got paired. I told him that I'd call back if there was a problem.
He suggested that if it didn't work, my best bet was to call TiVo.
"Those guys are really sharp and they will patch us into the call if they need to. Just tell them that the card has been paired."
I thought that was very classy.
But once it came up, all the new channels were there. Nice.
