susandennisWhen I was little I wanted long hair and long fingernails. So badly. My mother cut my hair the minute it got not short. Every time. I chewed my nails to a nub. Every time.
When I grew up, I learned that my thin, fine hair was pretty lame if I let it grow out. Now, in my 60's, it's turned curly and even with cheap hair cuts, I can towel it dry and finger it into shape and most days it looks fine and dandy.
I quit chewing my nails years ago and now wish I could get the habit back. I hate sitting for a manicure. I hate snaggy nails. I don't like 'em long but I've learned that the easiest maintenance is to let them grow. The snags wear off and a swipe with an emery board every week or so keeps them looking not scary. But, after a while, they get coke snorting long and look like I need to paint a mural on them. I hate cutting them off because I never get it right and they get snaggy again. So I wait until I break one.
This morning I turned the mattress over and around so where my head (and butt when I'm sitting there computing) used to be is now facing the floor and where my feet go. In that process, I broke a nail so now they are all cut off and snaggy and will be aggravating me all day.
At least my hair looks nice.
There is one patch of sun coming in where the air conditioner hose prevents the blinds from going all the way to the floor. Travis has found it. How he can sunbathe in that fur coat is beyond me.
I'm browning sausage for quiche muffins. I love love love my induction burner. You have so much control over the heat. It makes every kind of cooking better.
Once the sausage is done, I'll clean up the kitchen and then put my feet up for a while. Clean sheets are on the bed and everything is pretty much in order. I need to do laundry and finish the muffins but there's a whole rest of the weekend, too.
