Ramble, ramble
Aug. 4th, 2011 10:49 amIt's 10:30 and the Blue Angels are making their obnoxious noise. It's muted with the door closed and the A/C but it's still loud enough to send the cats to the back of the closet. I am not a Blue Angels fan. They represent a huge waste of lots of precious tax payer dollars to me - especially today when the stock market is shredding my retirement funds. And when they might well fuck up my dinner plans for tonight.
seattlejo is stopping by here on her way home from work and we are going to the Skillet Diner for dinner. Their Thursday night special is fried pork chops. I love fried pork chops but they are a major pia to make so I don't.
There used to be a funky little restaurant here in Seattle that served them with fried okra and mashed potatoes. The most delicious meal in the world and it was followed by the excruciating choice of peach pie or pecan pie for dessert (which I was always way too full to enjoy anyway). It was a tiny little place in a funky part of town and it was heaven. But, the 2001 earthquake put her out of biz and she never came back. The owner/cook was about 400 years old so I was not surprised she didn't start again, just disappointed.
I am all caught up on work. For the first time in a way way way long time. I literally have no work work to do at all. I'm not quite sure what to do with myself. The kitchen could use some tidying up. And so can the desk area. And I just remembered a giant stash of papers that either need to be filed or trashed.
Actually, one of the days, I need to go through my two big drawers of filed stuff. I'm guessing more than half of it can be tossed and the other half needs to be rearranged.
It's way too hot to go out and the sun is out so it will only be getting hotter. I have no place I want to go anyway. If they call to say my eyeglasses are ready, I'll go do that but otherwise, I'm staying in the cool.
I have exercises class at the gym at 2.
I might just spend some quality playtime with my ASUS Transformer. It could stand a little organization and some exploration about the things I haven't tried yet.
Guess I'll start with the kitchen.
