Saturday adventures
Aug. 27th, 2011 03:11 pmI checked the odometer when I pulled into the garage just now. 109 miles since Wednesday.
I had a blast today. I love tooling around in this thing. I did, in fact, get to the dealership via all back roads which was fun and different. In 20 years of living here, I'd never been that way before.
Bud, my sales guy wasn't there but the manager was. He was clearly not interested in chit chatting. He found my stuff (garage door opener, etc) and then turned me over to the service guy who was the exact opposite. He took his time and got the trunk organizer thingie and sold it to me and then took it out to my car and showed me hot to put it in and what it can do. And, yes, folks, it comes with two net pockets. More places to put stuff!
I gave the manager my little bag o' promised stuff for the Ford - the other key, the papers, the remote for the CD changer etc. The Ford had these nifty ash trays that you could pull out and turn the space into a cupholder. I found one when I cleaned out stuff and tossed it into the bag for him. When he pulled it out of the bag, he opened it and it was full of old cig butts! I would have been embarrassed but he was so giving me the bum's rush, I just thought it was funny.
I wanted a car holder of some kind for my phone, a clock (the car has one but I can't see it), some bear yarn, some bear stuffing... and I wanted to look at car blue tooth stuff... So I kind of had a list.
I stopped at Best Buy. The only thing they had was annoying sales associates so I went across the way to JoAnn's where I stocked up on yarn and stuffing. The people at JoAnn's were pretty snippy, too.
So then I went to Fry's. I wandered around for a while and enjoyed looking at stuff but didn't find anything so I found a Five Guys.
I've always wanted to try them - especially after discovering that Red Mill was so horrible. Five Guys was chaotic but they had a GREAT hamburger and really good fries. I did not catch on to the peanut deal until I was leaving but that's fun. There's one a little closer to here. They are now on my list.
From there, it was on to Walmart where I finally did score the perfect car phone holder for $4 and it clips right on so no tape or glue needed. Nice. And I found a clock that I'm ok with for now.
Then home. I figured out the general direction and came home on entirely different set of back roads this time along a lake. Nice stuff to look at, fun to drive. I stopped at the Library to pick up a hold and now I am home!
Fun and fun and fun.
I love the car and I also love the new parking space. For some reason it just feels so much more accessible and convenient.

Oh I did ask about the beep beep after I pulled the key out that happened once to me and has happened to
faecat and he (the general manager) said the switch in the door probably didn't get switched properly. The way he said it sounded like what he really meant was 'beats the fuck out of me, if you can replicate it while my guy can watch then we'll talk, otherwise, I'm going to smile and feed you bullshiit'.
---
It is a conversation piece, I will say. If there is a human near when I get in or out of the car, that human will ask about the car. 9 times out of 10. It's fun.
