I'm going with Cathboblet next time

Earlier in the week cathboblet was thanking all those who have not locked down their wireless networks.

I'd like to say to the many small business owners here on Folly Road in Charleston, SC, get with the program, people!!!  I'm sitting here in the car while my Mom gets her nails done.  I can see from right where I'm sitting:  two law firms, an insurance office, a CPA office, a medical clinic and and a real estate office.  Is there one single wireless network in range???  NO! 

It's just not right.  And it's very sad.

None? Wow, I've heard of such a thing in some parts of Alaska, but the Big City? (When I did my loop through Great Basin, all of my motels had wireless.)

The funny thing is actually my hotel. I scoured their website for any mention of data lines, free local calls (so I could plug in and dial up) or wireless access. I found none so I looked for another nearby hotel instead. I could not find one that was as price competitive and close to Mom so I went ahead and booked this one.

Then I get here and find that they have free local calling, data ports on the phones in the room, free wi fi in the lobby and in half the hotel (not my half, however).

There is a lot of AOL in this town. I stopped into a mailboxes outfit this afternoon to mail a package home to me and the woman was really nice and seemed very sharp and we talked about my needing a place to mail stuff to and she said to just drop her an email and let her know it was coming and she'd hold it for me. She hands me her business card and the email address is AOL.

I love Seattle and this time tomorrow - even accounting for the time difference, I will be there...
