Home in 24 hours
Nov. 26th, 2004 09:20 pmWe finished up the last of the 'while you are here' list today. Mom had gotten Jon her bartender friend to score her a bag full of empty mini bottles. I made a liquor store run and picked up a funnel at the dollar store and she now has little cocktails to go.
I think about half of Mom is really sorry to see me go and the other half is ready to get rid of me.
I wonder if she'll be around next Thanksgiving. I think it could go either way. And I don't think I can go a year without getting back here. My job is over at the end of June, I guess I'll plan on coming for a visit in July. July in South Carolina - I sweat at the thought.
Tomorrow I have a couple of small chores to do and then put her car back into the garage where her covered parking assigned space it - it is fairly near where her apartment was - not at all near where her current room is. Then Polly is going to pick me up at Mom's room at 11:30ish. Plane leaves at 1 but the Charleston airport is very small and easy to maneuver and my plane to Dallas is very small so no huge crowds getting on. Should be fine.

Date: 2004-11-26 09:16 pm (UTC)I had to laugh when reading about the mini bottles and funnel.
For the last 6 months or so, whenever my neighbor and I go out , whether it's In 'N Out Burger, 4 and 20 for lunch, or even Sportsmen's Lodge or Black Angus....She has "sneaked" 3 or 4 mini bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila in her purse to "add" to her 7-Up or Sprite.
She calls them "Margaritas."
If I am in the mood, I'll dump one into a Diet Coke and join her. To watch the exchange of these tiny bottles of "contraband" across the table out of sight of waitresses and bus boys is amusing. I play "lookout."
Just today, I was cleaning out a kitchen cabinet and found 2 plastic funnels. I don't remember why I bought them....several years ago, but this afternoon I ceremoniously presented my friend with her very own funnel specifically for the tequila pouring!
The tequila is poured from one of those huge 1.75 liter bottles, and sometimes spilled. I've heard tales of placing a bowl under the mini bottle during pouring, to prevent waste.
Needless to say, my friends was DELIGHTED with her little funnel.
So funny that you would mention that tonight!
Have a safe trip home to Seattle.
