Betty's dog trick and other ramblings
Oct. 17th, 2011 09:25 amI put the dry food cat food into a plastic shoe box. And then I put it on a shelf just above where their food bowls are. Last night, just before bed, I decided to give them a treat. I opened the box and gave them a small handful of kibbles.
This morning, I was in the living room working and I heard a strange sound in the kitchen and went to look. Betty was pawing at the plastic box! I've seen her open drawers and get where she wants when she wants, I think it's time to find a new spot for the food box!
I divided up about 3/4ths of a cup between their two plates. They left about a dozen kibbles when they were done so I think I'm getting good on the proportions.

riotclitshave is what I would call a photo curator. She collects photos from all over everywhere and posts them in her journal and they are almost always amazing. I love their beauty and their sadness and their mystery.

My brother got his CES badge this morning!! Last year was wonderful because it was an exploratory adventure - we honestly had no idea what to expect. Everything was a surprise. This year we both feel prepared and more organized. We still have no agenda which is perfect but we have a better understanding of what's coming up. I can't wait.

I'm a big Discover card user. If a place does not take discover, I just use my debit card. I love the cash back and always have (I also love their customer service). Lately they have been taking giant technology leaps. And getting chummy with Amazon (where I probably spend half my shopping dollars). First they upped the cash back percentage on the first $250 spent at Amazon. That was a nice little deal. Then they hooked up with my bank so that now, I can - any time - see my Discover bill from my bank checking account which while not that useful to me, is still pretty cool. I wish everyone would do that.
But, then today I was doing my daily balance check and there was a notice about using my cash back bonus on Amazon. Sure enough, I have now linked Amazon and Discover so that next time I buy something, I can use the money that Discover gave me.
I have a hard time seeing why everyone gets so in a huff about technology taking over or Google or Amazon (or anyone) taking over. It's making my life easier and easier to keep track of. Setting up my new phone this weekend was a pain but it was a minor ache compared to what it would have been without Google knowing all about me. Thank you Google. Thank you Amazon. Thank you Discover.

I'm not sure what today will bring. Work wise or any other wise. I got the work that I know about done already so I'm ready for whatever. Swimming will be about 11ish I think. It's a non-class day and the pool is open from 11-2:30. So if something comes up, I can be flexible.

Betty's haircut was on the 23rd of August - about 10 weeks ago. She's no longer the teeny weeny little kitty she was when I brought her home. I'm guessing she's still about 4 weeks from full coat. So next year, I could get the haircut at something like the end of June and be good for the Summer.

I started this entry an hour and a half ago. I am going to finish it now before I forget and just leave it in draft forever.
