I was 22 when Our Bodies, Our Selves first came out. It was so amazing. It changed my life in a way that no other book every has before or since. My first copy got so dog eared, I had to buy a second. It was like we had been living in the dark for 22 years and then someone switched on the light. We'd read and re-read and discuss stuff from the book that the generations before us were not allowed to even say out loud. It's hard to believe now - how the hell I made it to 22 without knowing that stuff. I'm so glad no other girl has to.
NBC Nightly News has a nice piece about the 40th anniversary and their website has some In their Own Words from the writers and women of the time.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032619/ns/nightly_news/#45037518NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams: News and videos from the evening broadcast- msnbc.com
