So... Originally, I had thought that maybe tomorrow - Thursday - I would just take a long walk down town and waltz around the stores and see the sights and just enjoy. That plan has now been put into its rightful place on the list - just after root canal with no novocaine!

I got off the bus near the Sprint store and waltzed in. They had LOTS of staff there to help only for my problem the help was 'go stand in that line'. It was said nicely, though. So I stood in the line. There was this really cute black chick in front of me. One of the roaming staff happened to be a really hot looking black guy and it didn't take him long to find the chick in front of me and pull her out of the line 'Oh, I can help you with that, he says...' Unfortunately, there were no fat, dumpy, old white men on staff so I had to wait in until it was my turn.

The guy listened to my story and then typed on his computer - he reminded me of the airline people at airports... No conversation. I just stood there while he typed. He said he would have to send it back to the technicians and it would take an hour. He said that since it was out of warranty, if they had to replace it, it would cost $10. Fine. Whatever.

So I hit the street to amuse myself downtown for an hour. By the time I got to the first corner, I had been pummeled with bell ringers, bumped and jostled. Then on the corner some dude with a bullhorn told me that the end was near and that I was going to hell. (Pretty darned insightful, I thought.) In the next block two small children nearly knocked me over. I ducked into Nordstroms just because it was there and I was hoping to at least eliminate the small children factor. I did but they were quickly replaced by a bazillion sales people dying to know if they could help me. I feel like was in a REALLY bad short film - that wasn't short enough.

I hightailed it back to the Sprint store. I had no idea if my hour was up because my only watch is my Treo! It didn't take long, however, for him to rescue my little buddy and report that, in fact, it was going to need to be replaced. They would have to order a replacement. It would take 3 to 5 business days and I would have to come there to pick it up. Call first. Here's the direct number. Merry Christmas.

On to the library which was only a little less frenetic. And now home - ahhhhhhhh.

And I fiddled a little with the Treo - true, I cannot place calls or answer them. But, I can still listen to MP3's and still play Monopoly and Gin Rummy. So... I can get by. I cannot make any long distance calls since my home phone does not have long distance but I don't want to call anyone anyway.

And that's my day... So far... I think for the next hour I am going to snuggle up with Jake and my latest mystery novel.

Ah Christmas.

My brother once roughed up a foam rubber dragon thing for groping a couple of girls and then getting in Neal's face. He told the 'creature' to keep it's claws to itself at which point it turned on him and kind of followed him making fun of him. Neal was a very active rugby player at the time, not people well known for their long fuse and calm reaction to being mocked. He told the 'creature' to redirect it's Christmas cheer 'or else'... it chose 'or else'. Neal pinned it to a wall by the middle of the chest, which was probably about throat height on the idiot inside. After that it headed off in the other direction.

My big brother, though five inches shorter. My hero!

Well, I am in for the rest of this week. Went to Walmart (one of two large grocery stores)today, big mistake!! Drove through the parking lot, then to the "other" grocery store and home. No where near any retail stores for me.

Have a great weekend.

Heee hee hee. Now I will look for redhaired geeky short guys when I go shopping next (which will definitely be after Xmas).
