I hate teeth
Aug. 23rd, 2002 12:51 pmI broke another tooth today. Shit. I broke one last year and it cost me $200 to fix but that's not even the bad part. The bad part is having to go to the dentist. I am a dental phobic. Heck, I am phobic of anything medical - bandaids give me the willies. I avoid it all like the plague. I am, however, not that fond of dental pain. This broken tooth (like the last one) does not hurt. There's a big chunk missing but it doesn't hurt. But, it could be only a matter of time.
I did find a great dentist last time. Well, not great but doable. He's going to have a fit because I have not had my teeth cleaned like he wanted me to. But, I think he'll get over it, hopefully. It wasn't too bad to get the last one fixed. So I'm hoping that this one won't be too bad either except for the $200.
I called his office to learn they were all gone until Tuesday. So at least I don't have to stress about it until then. ARUGH. I hate teeth.

Date: 2002-08-23 05:13 pm (UTC)I have the nicest dentist in the world and yet I still don't ever look forward to seeing him. I think tooth pain is WAY up there. Something about it, the nature of it.
And then there's the matter of how we can't talk when we are sitting there with our mouths open. We can't talk, can't read. Can listen to music but that's just not enough. So when they are involved in some long operation is just IS NOT FUN.
I have lots of tooth fun to look forward to soon. I have been to several consultants, am hoping the next one is the last, and finally something will start to get done. I've gone without my bridge for two months now, chewing on one side of my mouth, cleaning what remains of the last tooth, a tooth that is going to be removed when actual work gets under way. I am actually looking forward to having some of this start getting done. Limbo is even worse than that damned dentist's chair.

I have this theory that dentures are not the horror they are cracked up to be - they simply suffer from bad PR by dentists. I'd love to send my teeth in for work without my having to be there.
