Every morning I get my coffee and catch up. First I read all my LJ friend groups (I have 5 of people, 2 of communities and 1 of photos). Then I hop over to Bloglines and catch up on some of my regular blogs. I have 111 in my list currently but they are organized in groups as well and I generally only get through about half of them. (The other half is for when I'm really really really bored.)

One blog that I try to remember to check is not martha. This is a woman who lives in Seattle and finds interesting stuff. She makes me a little crazy because she never has enough entries or enough information about them or herself and what's even worse, she does not offer an RSS or other feed of her site so I have to remember to go there.

But, remember I must because otherwise I could go on living without ever knowing there is such a thing as Press On Toenails. I'm a little freaked at the knowledge but I know I am a better person for having it.

The other tidbit that not martha led me to this morning was Dooce. And now there are three. Three blogs that are really the most consistently sharp and clever and necessary reads - Bryan Adams Blog and There's PIE in the Lunchroom. There are lots of other good ones but these three should be required reading for everyone.

Hmm, not impressed. The first post refers to something that doesn't exist. There are no 50 calibre assault rifles. Sorry, but I did design weapons for a living before I moved over here.

On second thoughts, actually she is very good isn't she. Shows how stupid people are (I am) when they form an opinion based on one post.

I am actually unhappy with both sides. I had some guy call me up the other night and tell me that the UN was going to take my guns. I told him I was foreign and couldn't own guns anyway. But what BS he was spouting, no US president could survive giving that sort of control to the UN. This is the sort of fear tactics that made people support a war against Iraq.

But then the antis usually tell lies to further their point too. When LA city wanted to ban 50 calibre weapons they brought a Barrett M82 along as an example of what they wanted to ban and then allowed the council member to use it as a prop. But those are already banned and it was illegal for the councilman to have hold of one. Now they've upset Barrett and last I heard he was refusing to fix what they have or to sell them any more. What do the LA cops want with an anti armor weapon anyway? They'll probably shoot someone and kill a kid a mile away as well.

I just have issues with people who don't tell the truth, but in this case 60 minutes was probably to blame, they have a history of inaccurate reporting in this area.

Thanks for the recommendations. And hey! This technically challenged guy finally figured out how to handle an RSS feed.

One thing: I couldn't get Brian Adams' blog to open in the reader software. Doesn't he offer a feed?

*grins* Not my cup of tea personally but I did have to ask - have you emailed her? I've hit several sites and been sorry they did not have feeds and at one or two, I cared enough to email. Some of them added it then! (If their software supported it and they could just enable it, I think - but still cool!)

I love Marth! She's one of my favorite bloggers. Dooce is really interesting for what happened to her.
Do you read LJCFYI? Another fave.

Hey, thanks for the link and the kind words! I've been a little self-critical lately that I don't have as many readers as I think I should (ha), so seeing you say that about me was nice. Thanks!

Press On Toenails

A lot of people around here wear the pink and white toenails. I first started noticing them when my daughter was into pedicures. She always went with just one color and maybe a design on the big toe - never the pink and white. But I swear I saw a "Huggy Bear" type guy walk out of the salon with a pedicure like that.

My girls tell me the "long toenails" part of a French pedicure is illusory. I say there HAS to be some length there or the white to pink ratio would be all out of proportion. Illusory or no, the idea *still* grosses me out.

So what now...if you don't have long beautiful toenails I guess you can get them? Real, fake, it's still ewwwww to me. I do wonder, though, if you could use the press-ons to reinforce a split or deeply broken toenail. Hmmmmm.
