After my Napoleon Dynamite misadventure this weekend, I popped in Iron Jawed Angels. I figured it was going to be as dull as Napoleon had been uncomfortable. Wrongo. It was really interesting. When I despair at the number of white males running my world, I need to remember that only 3 years before my mother was born, women could not even vote. It's really amazing. The movie was very romanticized but still did a good job of telling the story.

Wow! That seems quite late to me- being from NZ. Everyone got their act together later than us.

know what I particularly love about LJA? Alice Paul indulging in a little self-love. She's usually portrayed as such a dour, hard-ass bitch, so it was delightful to see her getting it on :)

I loved it too. Definitely romanticized, but a heck of a good film all the same, and I can't wait to show the force-feeding scenes to my students some day.
