Deja vu entry
Jan. 30th, 2005 09:28 amI'm purging - half to trash and half to Goodwill and I have a cold.
If I didn't have empty shelves and half boxes of Puffs all over the house to show progress on both fronts, I'd feel a little GroundHogish about this all.
But, at least I'm getting a little smarter. I took the first cartload down to the car this morning and scored a street parking spot so I don't have to keep pulling the car out and putting it back with each load. Excellent.
I threw out 14 photo albums. The only pictures I looked at were those that fell out when I pulled the albums from the shelf into the trash bag. The only picture I kept was one of me and my husband - yes, we'll scan in for posterity in LJ later on. I found (and kept) my high school diploma - it will probably get tossed before we're done. I found a relatively small box of papers and clippings - the newspaper ad from when I had a sewing business in the 70's, some work letters - job offers, resignations, some marketing collateral I created for various jobs. Interesting stuff. I even kept some.
Ok, I'm going back in.
So far today:
Gray cart full of Goodwill stuff and one of two wire cart fulls that went to the trash. (And, can I say how grateful I am that we have dumpsters in the garage and lots of them!) Those aren't Ugs (they are Ug knockoffs and the LPs in the cart are probably not even playable - they were played to death years ago...)

Date: 2005-01-30 05:56 pm (UTC)What caught my attention is how you chucked those photo albums. I admire that kind of self-confidence and reslove.
Did I ever tell you how glad I am to have found your journal? Your journal is exactly what I imagine a journal to be, which is to say, a chronicle of life, YOUR life. You capture it so wonderfully, whether what you capture is wonderful or not.
I won't say I read everything everyone writes, but every time I refresh my friends page, I hope to find some update from you. I feel I get to know you a little bit better with each update. And I like getting to know you.
Keep it up! Please. :)
