Funding Frenzie
Aug. 26th, 2002 08:38 amThe announcement of the new funding went out today. It was in both morning papers here and on our website (as of an hour ago). I monitor all of the generic email addresses that are listed on the webiste (info@, press@, sales@, partners@, etc.). The traffic is good today... It's not yet 8:30 a.m. here and already, I've gotten a good number of EOC (that would be emails o' crap).
My presonal favorite is always the people (guys, mostly and interestingly) who ignore the 'how to apply for a job' instructions and send their resumes to one or more of several email addresses other than the one they are supposed to. I think one of the hallmarks of a good potential employee is 'can follow instructions'... Now, if you believe that by following instructions your resume will fall into some black HR hole, then you can also send an email to one of the other email addresses referencing the one you sent to the correct place. As it is, I see them all anyway. And I love the guy this morning who sent his resume to three different email addresses, with three different cover letters and all with LIBERAL USE OF ALL CAPS and lots of !!!!!!!!
On the smoking front, I did not wake up coughing last night one time. Amazing. I'm pretty sure that's more of a psychological reaction since I don't think you can cure 40 years of smoking in 24 hours, but it's nice to have a night's sleep and to get the positive reinforcement.
Generally I come in to work and go for about an hour or so and then go out and have the first cigarette of the day. Right now is the time for that cigarette and I feel it. My trick du jour is... If I can get by until I run home to check the mail (generally about 1:30), I may allow myself one drag. But I also may well negotiate that one away as well. I'm thinking these little steps - little deals - might help.

Date: 2002-08-26 03:00 pm (UTC)I guess my point is, however long you go NOT smoking where you did before, is a positive step. And if you have one because you really find yourself needing it, you are not 'backsliding' as some people see it, but just going back to the baseline for a few minutes. And then you can work out of it.
For what it is worth.
