It's rough when you are hosed and your don't even know it... My computer was hung enough to prevent work email (Outlook) - I got some personal email (Outlook Express and Gmail). I got some pages in IE. None in Firefox. Firefox has been flakey lately so I figured it was just broken and IE was having a bad day and they were both fighting the proxy server. And, blessedly, no one was sending me work emails.
Then, of course, I learned just how wrong I was. Julie (who works in this group) comes by 'you going to lunch with us?' I said - with my mouth half full of a Reuben sandwich - 'no, not this time' and wondering as I often do when she flies by 'what in the world is she talking about?' Then about 20 minutes later, Chris pops his head out his office door and says 'you didn't go to lunch with everyone?' ...
And I start asking questions... Today is Julie's birthday. An ad hoc round of emails earlier had organized a road trip out to an Indian restaurant for lunch. Chris had a meeting that was canceled that's why he didn't go.
Time to reboot. Fired up Outlook and lo and behold 25 emails! 19 of which were setting up this lunch... I do not care for Indian food and I am leaving early today so I didn't miss anything but it would have been nice of me to have said something kind and generous to Julie. I'm a cranky bitch by default but had I known I would have at least offered up a plausible excuse for blowing off her birthday party.
I am leaving early because it's Sheri Day!! Fabrics and wood samples. The wood samples are from Manhattan Loft and from her cabinet guy. I'm sure hoping we can know enough this afternoon to order furniture - especially the furniture that takes for freakin' ever to get.
And I want to get a good idea of the look - I'm pretty sure it's going to be smooth and black with maybe some dark cherry wood looking bits. But, I want to make sure and then I'm going to start the hunt for a litter box/bench. I'm pretty sure I know exactly what I have in mind. I'm also pretty sure that Sheri's guy could make it but he's already saying it will take 10 weeks to do what he's doing so far and I'm thinking it's time to work some parallel ops here. We'll see.
I am also so anxious to get the old crap carted away. The old furniture is really getting depressing to have around. Saturday 9 a.m. Then I can...
