ok, now i can see the interruption... my d-link (dir-623) router has a handy little internet light. when all is cool, it blinks. when all is not cool it is either dark or steady. i've just been watching it... it turns solid, i lose internet - not long enough to require reboot for fix but definitely long enough to disrupt things.... just happened about 3 times in a row...
now i'm beginning to suspect Comcast again... hmmm

Date: 2012-01-07 02:17 am (UTC)It gets kind of bottle-necky, like it's struggling to send and receive for a few harrowing seconds, then it all comes back fine, for a few hours, then it does it again. It's never at the same time every day, and not every day. Sometimes he's the only one with an internet connection running in the house, sometimes I've got my desktop and laptop going and the kid is here playing XBox, also on the internet and it happens (or not) then too. Mid day, evening, doesn't matter.
We've had 2 techs out tapping, twisting, tightening, probing, testing, etc to no avail. We even had a big giant cherry picker truck up diddling with something at the top of a few posts a few weeks ago (related to one of our tech calls) and still the same. It comes and goes, happens and not. It's still happening.
Anyway, in summary: I suspect Comcast too. I think they're fucking with stuff. COMCAST: LEAVE IT ALONE, IT WAS FINE!
