Recharging - me and the scooter
Jan. 11th, 2012 01:59 pmAfter a nice morning of ooooh and aaaahing and traveling and seeing cool stuff, I decided to grab some lunch and come back to the room to recharge a bit. I wanted to make sure the scooter had maximum juice to get me back home tonight so he's plugged in getting a refresher.
Actually, I'm pretty sure he would have been fine but why not be safe... Plus I needed a break. I was at the Venetian and going onto the convention center seemed too much. I decided that rather than fight those crowds, I'd just save that for tomorrow.
So I grabbed a Nathan's hotdog - oh how yum. I'm sorry now I didn't get two. And back to the room to catch up computerwize. I just checked work email and it looks like everyone's doing fine without me.
I saw some cool stuff today. Here's a few tidbits:

This is a blanket - that portrait is on a blanket. Pretty stunning.

Electric skateboard. Cutest dudes of the show at that booth, too.

There were a couple of empty booths this morning but this one cracked me up. I guess the answer to coolhotnot is not.

Also...
The guy from http://www.scottpaultech.com had a cool Cell Handle line of stuff that he had clearly rushed into production to make the show but did not cut any corners - his product is quality, his marketing is good and he was nice. Interesting.
There were two women at a tiny booth for txtRng;) They were very nice, fun and engaging and their product is cute, too. http://www.txtRng.com But, I'm sure I'd lose it.
Oh and probably one of the coolest things I saw was the LapKeyBoard (http://lapkeyboard.com/). Alas, it does not appear they are distributed anywhere yet but they had several models that were just nifty looking. Great idea and I'd love to have one.
I did not really look for or collect a lot of swag yesterday or today. A pen or two and one retractable charging cable and two bags. There were a lot of bags but not a lot of other stuff that I saw except pens. Today the nice lady at http://www.persuedeaudio.com stopped me and asked if I wanted a bag and a pen so I said yes and was rewarded with a quite swanky silver lame bag which I think I'll start using for my groceries.
In the lobby of the Venetian was a luggage shop and this set totally grabbed me... I'd use them as decoration in a bedroom!

Now I think I'll head back out and do some exploring from here to the Bellagio where I'll pick up my ticket for tonight and then find some dinner before the show.
I think tomorrow's plan is to get my ass up early and scooter over to the convention hall (or monorail if the line isn't too long) and do the one building I didn't do yesterday and then declare victory. I need to be back here at 12:45 to pick up the shuttle for the airport.

I love that luggage set! I totally want it. I bet it's insanely expensive. Bonus: you'd never, ever get it mixed up with anyone else's bags at baggage claim.
