School closed again! Yahoo!!!
When I was growing up, I lived for snow days. We didn't have many but the few we did have carried the joy of school closed. I hated school so much and to get a surprise free day off was just the greatest gift of all. Not even the dire warnings of 'you will have to make it up in the Summer' could dampen my joy.
I am now 62 years old. I have not been in school for literally 41 years and just now, when I read that the schools around here will get yet another snow day tomorrow, I felt a little thrill.

NPR played a segment on "winter songs" sometime in the last month, and one of my favorites was a person who sent in a song that was the music that played over the school closing announcements on the local TV station. Said they couldn't hear it but smile and think of snow. :)

Ha! It's amazing how one little "something" can trigger a memory like that from our childhood. I like how you described it all.

As a kid growing up, winter was always my favorite time and I lived for that first snowflake to fall.
