A fun birthday thing

susandennisIn the olden days, all executives had secretaries and they were called secretaries and they were in charge of details. I was a speech writer which meant I spent a lot of time with executives - well, actually, a lot of time hovering outside their offices waiting for my time with the executives. Outside their office with their secretaries.
Most of the secretaries I dealt with were used to speech writers of the male persuasion and they felt no bond. I worked hard to cultivate a bond because I needed all the help I could get and secretaries saved my ass many many many times. Plus we shared lots of giggles. During my speech writing years, I worked closely with about 6 different executives at one time or another and spanned about 8 different secretaries.
This morning I had emails from 4 of them. It's been years - in some cases, 20, since I've even seen them or even talked to them. And they never forget my birthday. It's an amazing thing and wonderful. It's also the first time I've had email addresses for 3 of them. I love that.
