Nice clothes
Feb. 8th, 2012 06:58 pmWhen I go to JC Penney's this Saturday, it's likely I will not even look at clothes. I'll look at bags and sheets and other stuff... I'm just not a clothes shopper. I wear the same thing every day. Knit pants and knit tops. In winter I wear long sleeve tops and in summer, short sleeve tops. Same pants all year round.
I buy cheap. There are a couple of websites for cheap fat clothes and I generally go there when I need to replenish. When I replenish, it's more of the same.
But, once in a while - sometimes even for brunch - I like to wear something else. My supply of 'something else' is fairly slim these days. Goodwill got most of it. And I never replaced (see paragraph one above). Every once in a while I troll around fat girl websites to see if there is something between trailer park chic and $400 tops for the really really really rich fat girl. I never find anything.
I don't even get a whole lot of catalogs in the snail mail any more and usually I just toss the ones I get. BUT... tonight I got one I'd never seen before and I figured I'd bring it up and give it the once over.
OMG. Apparently http://www.softsurroundings.com was not born this morning but I'll be darned if I ever heard of it. They have beautiful things. 75% of the styles, I'd wear in a heartbeat. It's expensive stuff but it's $100 expensive that looks like the $400 stuff. And their sizes go from super model to large ass. And exchanges (for a different size or something) are free.
I just ordered one nice looking, wear-to-brunch/wear-to-concert outfit. I hope it fits and is nice but not perfectly wonderful because I do not want to be buying a bunch of clothes. I don't need them and don't want to clear out a closet for new clothes.... Guess we'll see!
