susandennisMy neighborhood used to be the hotbed of Mardi Gras madness in Seattle. We are a long long way from New Orleans in both geography and well pretty near everything else you can think of. So Mardi Gras here was just guys trolling for chicks that they hoped had heard they were supposed to flash boobs. And since at the time, most of the guys-trolling-for-chicks bars were clustered around here, 'here' became the place.
Then one year the chick trolling morphed into mobbing and the neighborhood got trashed, store windows broken, stuff tuned upside down and a guy got killed in the street.
The next day we had a major earthquake and my condo was literally trashed. My dot come folded in May and in September terrorists took down the twin towers in NYC. It was quite a year.
And, I've never thought of Mardi Gras quite the same way again.

My kitchen has a great long peninsula that ends up as the PlaceWhereEverythingLands and most often looks like a junkyard. After Anita finishes for the day, she cleans up everything and the kitchen is tidy and the peninsula free o crap.
Today's vow is to keep the kitchen tidy and the peninsula always free o crap. So far, so good.

I have to 'chat' today (either IM or phone, don't know which) with a very annoying person about a work thing today. She's calling the shots (when, what, how long, etc). I am trying to fix my attitude. This too will pass. Just grin and bear it. You can fuck this up or just get through it - chose the latter. This kind of thing (suffering idiots with grace) is not my strong suit but surely I can do it if I try. and I will try.

I'm quite looking forward to hitting the pool today. Yesterday's class was good and it was fun to catch up with the class peops but today I can strap on my foot floaters and really get to work. And I'm ready.

Oh! I had more random stuff but I can't remember it and I just got some work work in to do so I'll add it later if/when I remember what the heck it was.
