My friend, Jon, has a blog devoted to politics. http://www.pensitoreview.com/ I first met Jon in 1980.

I was the marketing director for a non-profit performing arts theater and he was the public relations director for the North Carolina Shakespeare Company. If you woke him up right now he could tell you exactly where and when we met and what music was playing (the theme from Mash) and ditto for me. We clicked and almost in a way that I don't remember ever clicking with anyone before or since.

We lived in Charlotte, NC. He and Page had been together for about as long as I had been married - maybe a year? (I got divorced the next year. He and Page are still together.) We played well together. My Mom had a flashy looking Jaguar and somehow I ended up with it one weekend. I drove over to Jon's and parked it because we knew his ex boyfriend would be dropping by. He did.

I moved to Norwalk, CT. Jon and Page moved to NYC. I moved a bunch of other places and finally ended up in California. Jon and Page moved to LA. Jon and Page and their friend Susan and I all spent the weekend in Las Vegas for my 50th birthday. We laughed so much and so hard that it really did hurt for a week.

Jon always makes me laugh. But, even more interesting, Jon makes me make myself laugh. He primes my tongue/brain action into high gear. I'm always amazed at how witty I am around him. He brings out the best in me and I love him dearly.

And he has this blog. I've been reading it now for a couple of weeks. It's like the polar opposite of the Christian right. And almost as frightening. When you grow up in a state that elects and re-elects and re-elects Jesse Helms, you are going to suffer long term consequences and I think maybe Jon has suffered more than most. It's all interesting stuff but I'm not sure it doesn't cross a line now and again that gives sympathy to the other side.

He did tell me that his Mom had to give up following politics last November because she knew it was going to give her a heart attack. I think Jon may have inherited that tendency...

Hey, thanks for the link! And thanks to that link, I found "WTF Is It Now??" which I enjoy even more, and actually has its own LJ feed (http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=wtfisitnow). Too bad Pensito Review doesn't.

Oh -- I guess I didn't think to search on just the word Pensito. Thanks!

Further proof that life would be a dull, barren and desolate place without the resources of [livejournal.com profile] susandennis at hand.
