Truthiness
Mar. 9th, 2012 10:46 amOne of the very few things I remember from high school history was a discussion about Joseph Flether's book Situation Ethics. What I took away from there is that what is that an opinion, an action, a belief may not be written in stone. It may, in truth, vary from situation to situation.
That coupled with my years (few as they were) in journalism taught me to be a card carrying skeptic always looking for the not so obvious reasons behind stuff.
Two guys - professional fact checkers - have written a book just for me.
We're With Nobody - http://seattle.bibliocommons.com/item/show/2750671030_were_with_nobody is fascinating and I haven't even finished the first chapter. (When they appear at county clerks offices asking for records, they are often asked 'who are you with?' meaning what newspaper or whatever... their answer is We're With Nobody.)
These two guys are guns hired by mostly politicians to dig dirt. It's like reading The News Behind The News. I'm loving it.

I just placed a hold on that book. I immediately suspended it, but it's in there! Sounds interesting.

Ha -- if only! But I rather think I have enough gadgets for now. (If I bought a Kindle I think Shobhit would short circuit. Although that's not the reason I don't have one!)
