8:15 this morning in comes a note from Sheri, the interior designer/project manager. The cabinet maker damaged the goods getting them into his van this morning. No work today. As of right now, everything is shifted to tomorrow.

The first thing out of my mouth to Sheri when we started this was that I wanted this project to be staged and ready so that she could start the work and finish in the most minimal time possible. I told her that even if we had to pay for short term storage of stuff so that it was all ready at one time, that was fine. I was more than willing to wait on having it done as long as she needed so that the amount of time from the time I emptied out the old furniture until the time everything was finished was as minimal as possible.

So now I have lived with crap stacked up all over the house for nearly three weeks and moving into four. Yesterday I wanted to write down the model number of something for neighbor Ann and it took me 5 minutes to find a fucking pen and piece of paper. I moved stuff in there believing it would be for 3 days max, not 3 weeks and counting.

It does no good to get pissed off but, honestly, I can't help it. I can easily put aside how personally insulting it is to be paying so much money to be treated as an after thought. But I hate, so much, having my house in such disarray and not being able to do anything about it. Or rather having everything I have done to ensure this would not happen, fail.

I'm going to try and be grateful that I have Tuesday back - my conference call will be easier. Maybe it will all be finished by a my birthday next week. I'm not counting on it, though.

I hate to say it but I'm not in the least surprised. I think contractors as so used to doing business this way that it's "business as usual" for them. I know how shitty it is to be living in chaos like that. Sure hope it is over very soon for you.

Dear lord, I can't tell you how infuriating that is. I had a similar thing happen to me, during move-in, and there's nothing that can make a home seem less "yours" than when this kind of crap is happening.

You're right that it won't do any good to get pissed off, but, there are few times when it's more warranted.
