Little technology victories

susandennisOne of my two desktop monitors - the one I now call The One That Works - has always been not as bright as I wanted. Now, sitting right next to and flat with the server one which is bright and shiny, it looks nearly sepia. The monitor is an old Dell that actually has buttons on the front so I started punching them and bam! a menu of display stuff! And one option said brightness... doh. Now the sepia has been cured.
I have two TV remotes - one for my chair and one for my dinner table. One is a Harmony and one is a TiVo. I decided I wanted them to both be the same. Because I have two TiVos on one TV, setting up the TiVo remote is fiddly. But one time I asked about it on a forum and a guy named Bob gave me the most clear and detailed instructions.
So this morning I googled and found the forum and Bob's instructions and set up the second TiVo remote successfully (and fairly easily - thank you, Bob!). The Harmony can rest for a while.
Now I'm waiting for Comcast. Then I need to run a couple of errands.
I love my new living room so much. I'll take a bunch of pictures as soon as the new not-broken monitor arrives and gets set up next Tuesday.
I got lots of comments on this journal and elsewhere that all the stress and frustration with getting it done would be worth it in the end.
This has turned out to be exactly the case. I wanted a cleaner look with better organization and function and what I got was all that and way more.
