Well, this thing with Mom's computer is getting curiouser and curiouser. I got an email from her explaining that the reason she was late with the email was that she had to set the oxygen man straight, there are two new people moving into her her wing and she had to check out the action and the cleaning lady came so she needed to bug out of the room for fear the cleaning lady will make her do cleaning.

No mention of any computer problems or of getting my telephone message. Still no ping response and no VNC action. And the little ip teller is checking in every 5 mins like clock work. She's clearly up and running. I've asked her to reboot if she thinks of it. My brother will be there a week from today so worst case she'll go a week without computer assist. But, that probably wouldn't be a happy week.

No word on the handy man work at home. Don't know if he's there, not there, not coming or what is happening but I'm sure I'll find out eventually.

One of the two ottomans that should be delivered today is already showing that it's there. Yahoo! Those things are so cool. I cannot believe it.

Dentist Update: The first dentist's office finally did send me an email - a nice email actually - saying that she had made me an appointment with an associate at 4 p.m. on May 24 and offering that she would send me a reminder via email a few days before. I thought that last was a thoughtful touch.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] annakaleia, I now have a viable Plan B. She sent me the name of a dentist that her aunt (who is a dentist here but not taking new patients) recommends. I looked up Dr. Marvin and found an email address. Rehoned and bettered my previous email and shot it off and got it right back because the email address was no longer valid. I searched some more with no luck. Finally I just called and a very very very perky woman answered. I explained that I had tried to send an email to the Dr. at her world net address and it bounced. Very quickly she said 'oh, I'm so sorry - that's an old address - let me give you her new one.' and she did. Easy peasy. New email off and we'll see. Interestingly, both Dentist #1 and Dr. Marvin are in the same building.

I'm ready to declare victory on at least the major part of the taste problem. It was the Gel-Kam. Two days without and things are much better. The first thing I noticed this morning is coffee. It tastes great! Whew. I think I might just celebrate tomorrow with a little General Tso's Chicken for dinner. If I can remember to call and have the guy save me some. (He only serves it on Mondays and Fridays and for the life of me, I can never remember to call and if I don't call, he runs out before I get there.)

And even though the straw that broke the dental barrier is no longer valid (let's see how many metaphors I can mix here...), I think I'm not going to abandon the dental project just yet. It won't hurt to go talk to them. It won't hurt to go talk to them. It won't hurt to go talk to them. It won't...

Once you get there, that is 85% of the battle. At least it was for me. Of course, if you don't like them, run like hell and don't look back.

Yay for General Tso's Chicken!

Darn..I started to mention that the other day, got busy with something else and forgot.

I was going to say that maybe you should try something really spicy, like a nose-running spicy and see if you could taste that, red peppers or even the General.

So glad that you've solved your taste problem.
